Valerio Nitrato Izzo

Valerio Nitrato Izzo (1980) holds a Law degree and a Ph.D in Philosophy of Law from the Uni- versity of Naples “Federico II” where he holds a young researchers fellowship at the Law Department with a project on the crisis of the city as political and legal space. He studied at the European Academy of Legal Theory in Brussels and has been a post-doctoral fellow at Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra (FCT fellowship), where he worked on the relationship between catastrophes and legal regulation and at the Università Suor Orsola Benincasa, Naples. Among his research interests are legal theory, sociology of law, law and literature and theory of democracy. He has also participated in research projects in these areas, publishing in international journals and giving talks and presentations in scientific events at national and international level. He is a teacher at the doctoral programme “Democracy in the Twenty-first Century” at the University of Coimbra and collaborates with the chairs of Philosophy of Law and Theory of Legal Interpretation and Argumentation at the Law Department, University of Naples “Federico II”.
