Alexander Gerner is theatre director /playright and researcher in philosophy based in Lisbon since 2000. Currently he holds a FCT Post-Doc grant with his research project “Philosophy of Cognitive Enhancement” http://cognitiveenhancement.weebly.com/ at the Centre of Philosophy of Science at the Science Faculty of the University of Lisbon (CFCUL). Gerner is co-author and Head of the strategic thematic research line of the CFCUL (2015-2020) „Philosophy of Human Technologies“http://cfcul.fc.ul.pt/LT/FTH/.In 2011 he was the recipient of a study fellowship at CASBS (Stanford University) on Cognitive (Neuro-) Sciences and the Humanities. He concluded his PhD in May 2012 with a degree in History and Philosophy of Science with an FCT PhD grant at the Science Faculty of the University of Lisbon. Current Research Areas include Philosophy of Cognitive Enhancement, Philosophy of Attention, Philosophy of the (social) Self and Altered Self Experience, Philosophy of integrative Medicine, Diagrammatology and Diagram Praxis in Science and Art; Philosophy of Gesture; Philosophy of Technology and Human Techniques; Philosophy of cinematic experience.
